My approach

I began my journey as an integrative therapist during covid lockdowns after a long career in the film and television industry.  I trained initially as a form of self development but the more training I wanted to do.

I use a client first and often challenging approach. I tend to prefer to focus on clients feelings in the "here and now”, but I regularly work across other popular forms of therapy including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioural therapy and coaching methods.

The metaphor I often use in therapy is 'exploration'. The process can be like an archeological dig. Uncovering truth and meaning can be difficult and challenging, but my job is to guide you to do it safely and at the pace which is right for you. During this process we tend to oscillate between issues experienced both at surface level, and at depth, and we will either move backwards towards past issued or forwards towards a more goal orientated future. Either way, my aim is to create long lasting change and growth.

Sometimes we will hit up against hard places to pass in our exploration - the mind is very complex and wants to defend the status quo. This will challenge us find other ways to make progress. In such cases we may use a range of non-intellectual methods influenced by psychotherapy. These include repairing the "inner child", exposure therapy and meditative practices.

The Personal Consultancy Model

I was trained in the Personal Consultancy model developed by Dr. Nash Popovic. It's idea is that the therapist acts as a consultant to you, the client, in an intimate one-to-one setting. As a consultant in other walks of life, you work with me in a time limited fashion. We agree the things you want out of life, and therapy, and work towards that through our exploration.

The model is a non-ideological one, meaning it provides a flexible framework that can draw on a range of therapeutic and coaching approaches. This allows me to respond to each client’s unique needs - combining depth work and emotional exploration with practical, forward-focused strategies for change and growth.

Coaching
A forward looking, goal-orientated approach which focuses on collaborative planning and your key strengths

Addiction
The path through recovery towards staying clean for the long term. We will work at depth and examine feelings in the 'here and now'. Involves work on cravings and our relationship to food.
Emotional Fatigue
Common symptoms can include burnout, brain fog, a lack of sleep and general overwhelm. We focus on rebooting your nervous system through 'felt' sense work and classical psychodynamic approaches.
Neurodiversity
Growing awareness around symptoms of ADHD and autism is bringing new light to the therapy room, and helps to ground my clients appropriately.
Dream analsysis
A growing part of my practice, we incorporate dreams within the wider therapeutic practice. Our unconscious selves holds many valuable clues to our desires and wishes.
